I finally hit my goal and lost 118 pounds!

“I have struggled with weight my entire life and didn’t know what it was like to be healthy. I have struggled with high blood pressure and was at risk of diabetes at the age of 24 which is too young for any person to be going through this. I didn’t know what it was like to have self-esteem or what it was like to be able to go into a store and just grab what you liked and not what fits.

On January 17th 2013 I began the protocol and I was very discouraged as every diet I had attempted failed. After losing 10 pounds in my first week I felt the most motivated I have ever felt.

Throughout the protocol it was really restrictive and very strict. I learned with the help of my coach Karen that there are so many different options out there that I can substitute for. I learned how to cook and enjoy food and learned that I can prepare a very healthy meal in the amount of time it used to take me to go get fast food. Throughout the diet I had to face many temptations but with telling myself “I have cheated my whole life, I can go without for a short period of time” I managed to finish the diet and never cheat once!

After 31 weeks on August 22, 2013 I finally hit my goal and lost 118 pounds! I no longer have high blood pressure and have more energy than I have ever had in my life. I have accomplished so much in my life so far now and now the skies the limit thanks to Karen’s support and the Ideal Protein Protocol!”

She is an encouraging, compassionate and energetic consultant who is always ready with great suggestions, delicious recipes--along with samples of what the recipes taste like--and weekly progress meetings. In addition to the one-on-one sessions, LillyPad also offers great workshops and movement classes. This is a great program for anyone looking to lose weight or just get healthy!

I started with LillyPad because I was having trouble losing belly fat. No matter how little I ate or how much I worked out, I just kept gaining. Karen at LillyPad taught me about the right foods to eat together at what time of day to lose weight and not go hungry. To my surprise the exact opposite is true; during the first phase we more than doubled my food intake and cut out ALL exercise and within the first week I was already down 4 pounds.

This was all fine and good, but what the real revelation for me was the stabilization of my blood sugars, almost immediately!! I have been a type 1 diabetic for 26 years and have NEVER had great control over my sugars. Within the first week I had noticeably less rebounding and by the end of the month I had only 3 or 4 readings out of range.

I was worried that I was going to have to eat bland boring plain food, but with the easy recipes and fairly common ingredients such as mustards and spices, cooking is fun and everything tastes great! Even my husband lost weight and never felt hungry.

This is a great program for anyone looking to lose weight or just get healthy, but I would strongly recommend it for diabetics (especially insulin users). Insulin itself is fattening and it is easy to fall into a pattern of:

  1. Exercise (to lose weight)
  2. Hypoglycemic reaction
  3. Eat a ton of fast acting “fattening” carbs to correct for the low blood sugar
  4. Rebound and well…exercise rendered USELESS. This is very frustrating and discouraging.

After starting at LillyPad, I lost the intended weight with very little effort and have remained a stable diabetic. LillyPad provides great food guidelines and a blog with new and updated recipes all the time to help make losing weight simple and fun!

It’s never too late to lose weight and fat.

I have been very fortunate to have been on the Ideal Protein 4 stage Program offered by the LillyPad Health and Wellness Centre in Waterloo. At the age of seventy-two (72) I lost 42lbs in 7 months on the Ideal Protein Program.

Karen, the owner, of the LillyPad, gave excellent instruction and supervision throughout my weight loss program through weekly visits. The daily on-line support and delicious recipes geared for each stage of the program were a wonderful support. I was very impressed with the maintenance stage which prepared me for maintaining my weight now and on into the future. After years of unsuccessful dieting, Karen and the Ideal Protein Program helped me to get rid of the excess weight and ugly fat that accumulated over several years.
